Life in an Industrial City
Title
Life in an Industrial City
Description
Life in an industrial city brought opportunities and hardships and did not always live up to the rosy picture painted by the mill owners who recruited workers to come to Lowell. This collection contains images of life in the “Spindle City,” as well as a photograph of the grave of Barilla Taylor, a young woman from Maine who worked in Lowell from 1843-1845.
